firebird Egg

As part of Theo Fabergé’s 80th birthday celebrations Theo was invited to New York for a very special charity dinner at the Firebird Restaurant. This inspired Theo to design a Firebird Egg. The Egg created in solid silver, gold and red enamel, is offset with an Imperial Crown finial offset with a ruby. There are further stylized feathers and apple blossom from the firebird story. The base is ornamentally turned on Theo Fabergé Holtzappfel Lathe dated from 1860.

On opening the Egg the surprise is the firebird, which can be removed from the Egg, sitting under an arch. A further surprise hidden beside one side of the arch is a tiny pair of ballet shoes.
